Troubleshooting • Upgraded Pi400 to Bookworm, eject symbol no longer in taskbar & more

Trying to prepare micro SD to boot my new Pi 5, using Imager on Raspberry Pi 400. I decided to upgrade to Bookworm before using imager. With Imager, I had write failures with two Reader/Writers but worked on a 3rd with another brand new Sandisk 32 gb micro sd. My eject symbol is no longer in my taskbar. After much searching and getting nowhere, I decided to reinstall Eject. I get "eject is already the newest version(2.36.1-8+deb11u1)." ( quotes (") are mine)
I'm using a usb hub so I did lsblk to find out that the 32 gig sd card in a usb carrier was sdb. I entered eject sdb and the response: "eject: cannot open /dev/sdb: permission denied"

At this point, I feel guilty for presenting a recurring issue and for my ignorance. I would appreciate help however. I would really like to have the eject button back on my taskbar.
I will see if I can boot the Pi 5 with the micro sd as soon as I find time.
