Ram based OS load the OS from uSD into the RAM, anything that infects that OS is gone next power cycle.
I use PiCore Linux for 24/7 Pi gadgets if the user needs Linux.
For my own stuff I use Ultibo which makes a replacement kernel.img of about 3-4MB.
I still use the bootrom in the SoC and the normal Pi bootloader on the uSD.

I suppose a really good hacker could replace the bootloader?
But on the normal Pi OS an "update" would replace it?

If anyone has hacked Pi boot files they are keeping quiet ;)
