I get the "just because" reason, but it (a) does not run that hot (b) has reasonable cooling solutions and (c) is a fairly low cost device.
Does not make sense to me to attempt this as the risk/reward is just not there. In my desktop usage case, the fan either runs at the lowest setting or not at all. The fan in my network provider router is the only one I actually hear, if I am not streaming something with audio.
My point was more about it is not particularly useful for the majority of use cases and as you point out it likely is beyond the skills of many/most folks. The end result of that combination will likely be unhappy making.
