Indeed. RAID should be used to inprove availability, i.e. keep the data accessible at all times even if a drive fails. It has a completely different purpose from taking backups. With ZFS you get automatic checksumming and self-correction of data as a bonus, within certain constraints.I'm using two 3.5 inch hard disks in their own enclosures on one of my Pi 5s, with an NVMe boot drive.
I'm assuming you're doing RAID on the hard disks. If so, what software are you using for that? I'm using ZFS.
RAID can give a false sense of security. It's not a replacement for backups.
