Well, for the sake of the OP let's assume the servo in question has encoders and he/she is making use of them.You need a stepper. A continuous rotation servo has no control over angle. You can only control the speed and direction.
So maybe the library - or whatever is used for sending the messages to that servo - is blocking it from doing more than 360°
Encoders can be added to steppers as well. One can buy motors that have them added already - and use them like servos (lol)
