I think on Pis it's sort of okay as you don't unplug them all the time. But I've a couple of Nokia Windows phones I'd love to still use as they have a far better camera than any modern ones, but both have dead MicroUSBs.That's a good point about USB-C....though "dark ages" is perhaps a bit harsh.
I always thought it a shame that RPI chose not to use it on the Pico though. Though, I've not had any issues with the Micro USBs.
