from what the engineers have said, the audio_out block in the RP1 does everything the VPU was doing, but with hw instead of sw
so you just feed it 48khz audio, and your done?

Ah, the new audio block, had forgotten that, age makes me forget more these days.
Any code examples using this new block or have I forgotten that too?

the rpi engineers have not supplied any code or documentation, so we are entirely in the dark on how it works
