Raspberry Pi OS • Re: How is Pi OS performance with a micro sd card?

The SD card interface on the Pi5 has doubled in speed over the Pi 4 so that is a pretty good improvement and works really well. However, if you want REAL speed, then a M.2 NVME HAT plus a small SSD is mindbogglingly fast. My Pi 5 now massively outperforms my Intel based i5 16GB machine (SSD for the system, and spinning rust for the main storage), when browsing.

It'll cost an extra $40 or thereabout though for the HAT and the drive.
can you point us to the NVME HAT your using ? does it work out of the box or work a rounds required ?
the 1's on amazon are under $20, but seem to have issues related here in the forums, so i don't want to waste money/time to try each 1 till 1 works.

i have a few nvme from a upgrade job. i'm going to trade them but might like to keep 1 for my rpi5.
The one I am using is not yet for sale.
