At the expense of "K" everything.... and having to play wack a mole with much eye candy... all imho... Image may be NSFW.You can also install a third party desktop environment (like KDE for example) over the "lite" version of RPIOS. This actually works perfectly and resolves "some" of the issues that you have been experiencing.

The bottom line is that the Pi 5 has enough cpu power to run most (all) desktops rather well. Pick your favourite, if you are running a desktop install and such thing matter to you. Currently X11 and MATE is my happy place,
