Not quite clear what you're trying to do here but this:

How do I get RaspberryPi imager_2.0.0_amd64.AppImage to run as root.

Will never work ! Root or not root !

RPI is arm64, not amd64 !

Presumably trying to run Imager 2.0 on a X86-64 PC running Linux Mint, which should be fine.

The problem being encountered is that the Imager "Appimage" needs to be run as root, so possibly using sudo?

(I've never used Mint, or an "Appimage", so don't know the best way to run it.)
