Automation, sensing and robotics • Re: One Pi, multiple lights?

Thanks for the response, Deepo!

I am still trying to figure out what sort of LED strip would work best for this application. I was initially thinking the Analog RGBW LED strip (1), but I feel like their large 45x86 mm backlight module (2) would actually work better. I'm shooting for typical room brightness (~3-10K lumens) within a small to medium box (30"x24" at the largest). The reason I didn't want to solder-at least immediately-was so I could try out a few different lights to see which would allow me to hit the correct brightness without issue.

The last thing I want to do is to permanently affix something to the pi, only to realize later on down the line that it won't work.

I wasn't thinking about powering the LED strips from the pi, although it's good to know that this can't be done.

Instead, what I was envisioning was to hook up the LEDs to the pi and control each box individually from a single unit.

I hope this clarifies things!
