There were some earlier postsThe Pi 500+ (us keyboard option) with the latest recommended OS installed works fine with an external usb keyboard but when using the integrated keyboard the [ key and the ' key do not register correctly, outputting a string of 6 other keys. The other keys seem to be ok.

with examples of Pi 500 Plus keyboards that had not been fully cleaned during manufacturing.
If new, a good idea in my opinion is to exchange your Pi 500 Plus for another one. If an exchange is not possible, maybe open and check if yours has a similar cleaning problem.
It is also possible the programmable keyboard controller simply needs to be reflashed.
