Yep. It can be tough doing what at the outset seems impossible. The problem is I never started learning scripting. And it affects me a lot
I'm in my seventies and went through from CDC-160 machine code circa 1970 to Motorola 6800, Intel 8080, 8086 Assembler, PLM, Pascal and finally C. Found MSDOS Batch files useful back in the 80's mostly to avoid repeating simple processes. I only dipped into Bash a few years back because it was an easy way of getting something a bit complex going using the tried and tested "Suck it and See" method with massive support from Google Web searches and Cut n'Pasting useful snippets into what I was doing. Have been doing the same trying to get a handle on Python, PHP and HTML and after a few iterations, mostly solving typos and syntax faux pas I get it going and move on to the next bit or just harder bit and repeat the process.
I get stuff going but tend to forget how I did it so add loads of comments and include source URL's to refer back to.
The web is brilliant once you understand what you are trying to get going. Use it.
