Thank you both for your responses, they have been most helpful. Sorry for not clarifying my question further.
My ultimate goal is to build a system as lightweight as possible that can still open up a VNC session. I intend to use it mainly in terminal only mode but I want to have the option to have brief VNC sessions if need be.
Since I do not normally need a GUI I have set the GPU dedicated RAM space to the bare minimum, freeing up resources.
It is my understanding that all VNC servers require a desktop manager and an X server to function. It is also my understanding that XtigerVNC, unlike other VNC servers, runs its own virtual X server instead of requiring Xorg. Which means that instead of having to run Xorg plus a VNC server, I only need to run Xtiger (plus of course a desktop manager). And even though Xorg works faster with the GPU, the reduced GPU RAM should take that advantage away. Please correct me if I am wrong somewhere.
With all that in mind I believe that for my use case, it is more economic in terms of system resources to run Xtiger instead of another VNC.
Please let me know how you feel about this conclusion.
