It broke because boot.py is meant for hardware initialisation. It runs before USB is configured so there is no way to break out of it if it is looping. Use main.py if you need something to automatically run at startup..THANK YOU! I uploaded flash_nuke.uf2 and it solved the problem! I'm still trying to understand what caused this to happen. I must be doing Micropython wrong.
Finder crashing is unrelated. That is a bug or issue in macOS. A USB device shouldn't be able to crash Finder.
