Analogue circuitry is far easier on 40nm compared to 16nm or below, so you can have better ESD protection and similar in the package. It also makes things easier for interfaces like MIPI D-PHY (for DSI and CSI) which has multiple voltage levels and switchable terminations.
Interesting things to consider along side USB requiring 5 volts at significant amperage. Ethernet uses a high voltage. What does WiFi use?
