I was being objective and stating my experience .
That may have been your intent but, at least to me it came across as a rant.
You’re obviously a huge fanboy so it is exceptable for you to spend hours on forums
I've no idea where that came from. My post count maybe? My suggestion that you didn't do your due dillegence before posting your rant? While I do use Pi, support the RPF's aims and try tro help out folk son here I wouldn#t describe myself as a "huge fanboy". Or any sort of "fanboy" really.
but to me for a product that is charging close to 200$ with all its design choices and adapters at least the software should be working great.
Is that $200 US or some other country's dollars? If you paid 200USD for a Pi 5 you paid way over the list price (or your country has high import duties and taxes). If you bought a kit, that's on you. Problems caused by thrid party components in a kit or that you purchased are not problems with the Pi 5.
I assume that came from Dom's post as you didn't mention it in your OP. Any saving made for teh end user by using full size HDMI connectors would likely been ofset in one or more of an increase in price, an increase in board size, a reduction in the number of available HDMI ports, ...Half these edid issues are because of adapters so if the board had a standard hdmi not only would customers save money but less issues.
I have many boards from different vendors never have I had an edid issue.
Then you've been lucky. I've seen EDID issues on a numebr of platforms though with a limited number of monitors.
And from the forums it’s clear tons of people are having pi5 issues.
I never said people weren't having problems. I said (and I quote): "you're the only person I've seen complain about this." specifically in relation to your report of needing two monitors connected to get the desktop.
It’s just unacceptable this roll out for this price point .
What price point? $60 US plus shipping and taxes? That's the list price of a Pi 5 4GB model. The OS costs you nothing. $12 US plus shipping and taxes for the PSU (which as already mentioned above is optional).
