One doesn't transition to a Pi from an Arduino. They're entirely different devices.
A Pi is basically a PC. You probably are used to using Windows on your PC. You need to get used to using Linux.
Once you know how to boot up, log in, and move a few files around you can move onto the GPIO pins and play with them.
If you are getting a bunch of error messages, read them! That's what they're for. Google the error message to figure out a common cause and common fix and try it.
