An armhf (32-bit) image should run on any model Raspberry Pi client. The server doesn't execute client images, so it's only clients that care what they're fed. You obviously can't feed a 32-bit Raspberry Pi client a 64-bit image and expect it to run. There's only one flavor of bootcode.bin.
Thank you very much for the explanation. I now created a 32 bit image template for my RPi1 (I used the RPi3 64 bit image template previously with pxe-add) and also detected I had a typo in the device id when I added the image. Now with the 32 bit image and the correct device id the RPi1 boots successfully. Now I have two image templates, one 32 bit and one 64 bit. It's interesting to learn the 32 bit image also runs on all 64 bit RPi HW and I actually don't need the 64 bit image template. But I will keep and use the 64 bit image.

The whole netboot stuff is tricky to configure. I now know all the places where I have to update files but your script hides all this netboot stuff very good. Thank you very much you published your scripts.

So now I have to find out what has to be configured on my Synology. As I alread wrote - it's some access right stuff and nfs 3.0/4.1 stuff.

Thank you very much for helping me get to know and understand RPi netboot.
