To thagrol,

The UPS is a "Raspberry Pi 27W USB-C Power Supply UK"

The OS is
"rdpi5@raspberrypi:~ $ cat /etc/os-release
PRETTY_NAME="Debian GNU/Linux 13 (trixie)"
NAME="Debian GNU/Linux"
VERSION_ID="13"
VERSION="13 (trixie)"
VERSION_CODENAME=trixie
DEBIAN_VERSION_FULL=13.2
ID=debian
HOME_URL="https://www.debian.org/"
SUPPORT_URL="https://www.debian.org/support"
BUG_REPORT_URL="https://bugs.debian.org/"
rdpi5@raspberrypi:~ $"

The SSD is a "Raspberry Pi 256Gb NVMe"

OK.
Whether or not you have dtparam=pciex1=on in your config.txt

I cannot see it when viewing the config.txt file using command "vcgencmd get_config <config>

Whether or not you have dtparam=pciex1_gen=3 in your config.txt

As above

I meant you to look in /boot/firmware/config.txt
Whether or not you have initialised, partitioned, and formatted your SSD. Like bare HDDs, M.2 SSDs are not pre formatted in the factory.

No alteration to the SSD supplied by The pi Hut

That's a no then.

What about the other two requests?

I can't say for certain given you didn't post the command output but, assuming those show the raw NVMe drive, it's unpartitioned and unformatted:

For setting up the drive see section 5 of Root on PCIe SATA - A Guide

For getting it mounted consistently during boot see Using fstab A Beginner's Guide
