A lot of users/customers care actually...Raspberry Pi imager is supposed to let you do this as part of the image writing process. The problem is that it's broken and no-one seems to care.
But if "no-one" does not include those who pay for the product then you're right.
Given the product in question is Imager and that no-one pays for it...
More seriously, we're in the Christmas/New Year period. I'd expect most, if not all, of the RPL developers to be on leave until 2026-01-02 or, given that's a Friday, 2026-01-05
